YOUR INFORMATION
Privacy & cookies
This notice explains how we handle enquiries, customer information and information used while providing technology support.

Who is responsible?
Tech-nically Speaking is a trading name of ANDREW HANNON LTD., the controller of the business and customer information described here. The company is registered in England and Wales, number 10414921. Its registered office is 24 Sunnyside, Diss, Norfolk, England, IP22 4DS.
For privacy questions or requests, contact Andrew Hannon at andrew@tech-nicallyspeaking.co.uk, call 07577 000472, or write to the registered office. Device handovers and visits must be arranged first.
Enquiries and correspondence
We receive information you give us by email, phone or during discussions and appointments. This may include your name, contact details, location, device details, the problem you describe, appointment arrangements, service notes and invoice information.
The website’s enquiry builder prepares a message on your device. Its application code does not send your message to us or save it in browser storage. You can review the message, open your email app, or copy it into your normal email service. Your email provider then handles the message when you send it; our email provider is IONOS. The website itself is not an inbox or an appointment-booking system.
Please do not include passwords, payment-card details or sensitive files in an enquiry. We will discuss appropriate access for the work separately. Information such as your IP address is still processed when you visit the website, as explained below.
Customer devices and files
Support may require access to a device, login credentials or information on it. Data migration and drive copying can require temporary access to the full contents of a device or drive. We use that access for the agreed work and do not retain information outside its scope.
Remote support may use existing tools such as Microsoft Quick Assist on Windows, with access agreed with you. We will discuss the access needed before proceeding. If we handle personal data on behalf of a business customer, the scope and instructions for that work must be agreed with that customer.
Temporary copies made for a job are returned or deleted within the period below. An ongoing backup service requires a separate agreement. Where possible, enter passwords yourself and remove or change temporary access credentials after support.
Why we use information
- Discussing and providing requested services: to understand the problem, arrange work, communicate with you and complete the job. For individuals, this is necessary to take requested steps before a contract or perform a contract.
- Business contacts and routine administration: our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, managing services, keeping appropriate records and resolving issues, including where a contact acts for a business.
- Invoices and accounting: to meet our legal obligations for tax and company records.
- Website delivery and security: our legitimate interests in operating a usable website and protecting it from abuse.
We currently use customer contact details for service correspondence, not direct marketing. Generic public posts on Facebook or Nextdoor do not involve using customer contact lists. We do not sell customer information or use this website to make automated decisions about people. If you choose not to provide information needed for a job, we may be unable to arrange or complete that work.
Service providers, website traffic and cookies
Information is handled by the providers needed to deliver the relevant service, including IONOS for email and Microsoft where an agreed remote-support tool is used. Information may also need to be disclosed where required by law or to obtain professional advice about a dispute or legal obligation.
- Hosting and protection: the website uses OpenAI’s Sites platform and Cloudflare delivery and security services. They process request information such as IP address, browser details, requested pages and request times. Cloudflare may set security cookies, including
__cf_bmfor bot management. - Fonts: Google Fonts supplies the site’s typefaces. Loading these contacts Google’s servers and provides technical request information, including your IP address.
- Map: the homepage loads map images from OpenStreetMap to show our approximate service area. This provides OpenStreetMap with technical request information, including your IP address. The map does not ask for your device’s location.
We do not add advertising pixels or marketing analytics to this website. Its enquiry-builder code does not set cookies. Hosting security cookies are controlled by the hosting provider. Your browser can control or delete cookies, although blocking security features may affect access.
These providers operate across countries and may process information outside the UK. Their notices explain their processing locations and transfer safeguards. Contact us if you need information about the arrangements applying to your enquiry or service.

How long we keep information
- Unsuccessful enquiries
- 6 months after the last contact.
- Routine service notes and correspondence
- 2 years after the last job.
- Invoices and accounting records
- Normally 6 years after the end of the relevant company financial year. Some records may need to be kept longer where the law requires it.
- Temporary copies of customer files
- Returned or deleted within 30 days after the job is complete and handover is confirmed, unless an ongoing backup service is specifically agreed.
We may retain relevant records longer where necessary for an unresolved complaint, legal claim or legal obligation. These periods are business record-handling commitments; the website does not automatically delete email or customer records.
Your rights and concerns
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of use or a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Some rights are limited where records must be kept by law. We do not rely on consent for the routine uses listed above; if consent is used for a separate activity, it can be withdrawn for that activity.
Contact Andrew using the details above to make a request or raise a concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). We will update this notice if the way we handle information changes.
